2013 Habitat for Humanity Annual Appeal

A message from retiring Executive Director Linda Morgan,

Twenty-four years – a generation. That’s how long good people like you have been building
affordable homes with me and Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity.
Since I started as a volunteer in 1991, the children of Habitat families have grown up, moved away, graduated from college, started raising children themselves. Habitat houses have been paid off, improved, recycled and – absolutely lived in and maintained for another generation.
I’ve been around long enough to watch Habitat go back to its beginnings – rehabbing another large, two story home on Independence Avenue in northeast Waterloo.
The first Habitat home was at 606 Independence for a family of 6. It was the only home completed in 1991.

Our most recent Habitat home, #119 at 211 Independence - is on the same street and will be home to a family of 9.

I am so grateful to you and all our donors, contributors and volunteers. None of Habitat’s home building and
“hope building” could have happened without your support. And, I am so grateful to you for allowing me to be a part of this great Habitat mission of “building God’s kingdom in local and global communities.”
My appeal to you this year is an urgent one, whether you are a long time committed supporter as I am (and will continue to be in retirement), or a “newbie” to Habitat.
Habitat desperately needs your donation to continue to build homes with families and community partners.
God’s kingdom still needs a lot more affordable housing for hard-working, modest income families.
I’ve served Habitat as a volunteer, committee member, Board member and President, and since 2002, as Executive Director. I’ve also been a consistent donor. I intend to increase my donation this year. (I’m retiring, but I’m not going to stop building!)
Could you do the same? Could you give more this year?
Could your church or club take up a special Habitat offering this holiday season?
Could Habitat be part of your “holiday friend and family gifting” this year?
Could you give a large, year
end gift for your tax deduction?
Do you have an IRA that would serve you better as tax relief rather than as cash?
Could you donate now and sign up for a monthly donation with our Nuts & Bolts Club?
Please respond with your donation today. And please, accept my sincere thanks.
It’s been a good build – 24 years – and Habitat will keep on building, but only with your help.
Linda Morgan, Retiring Executive Director
Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity

Building Beyond 100

For the last 22 years, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 111 homes and helped families achieve the dream of home ownership.  With our momentum of building and renovating, we hope to complete 100 more homes in half that time.  We recognize our community of individuals, churches, corporations and foundations who have given their time and resources to where we are today.
Thanks to you,

Our 2012 annual fundraising campaign was a big success! You are part of a life-changing program in partnership with hundreds of modest income families and helping to make our local neighborhoods thrive.
Thank you for your support!
